Café Benelux

Tonight I went out for a pre-birthday birthday shindig for my cousin Jennifer's birthday with some of my family. We went to the art museum first and then bopped over to Café Benelux for some dinner/appetizers.

If you've never been to Benelux before it is nestled in the Third Ward on Broadway right across from the Wicked Hop and the Milwaukee Public Market.

It is Dutch themed and owned by the same gents as Café Hollander, Centraal, and more recently Trocadero.

They have more glorious beer than you could ever dream of having many of which are on tap.

Beers: Piraat and Tandum Dubbel.

Birthday Girl.

Mom and two of her sissies.

We shared a variety of appetizers.

These were the tater tots with bacon and bleu cheese served with Siracha Mayo. Renée described them as sinful.

Agreed.

Parmesan pita bread with hummus.

Sweet potato fries.

Renée and I shared Salmon Croquette monsters.

We each also ordered some of the best Tomato Soup I've ever had.

Everyone else ordered/shared burgers, soups, and sandwiches.

It was a nice and quiet visit being a Sunday night. We spent the dinner catching up on Sandy my aunt and Jennifer's recent cruise and reveling that we were getting together and it was not a holiday. :)

I suggest going to Benelux on a Sunday night since it is not quite as packed. If you are, however, looking to brunch, they have a wonderful brunch menu.

You may find them here.
